Psychologist - M.A. evaluates patients for mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders. Diagnoses disorders, including nature and extent, and determines the appropriate course of treatment for the patient. Being a Psychologist - M.A. uses talk therapy to treat patient illness or distress, cannot prescribe medication. Requires a master's degree in clinical psychology. Additionally, Psychologist - M.A. requires a valid state license to practice. Typically reports to a medical director. The Psychologist - M.A. work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role for the work group. A specialist on complex technical and business matters. To be a Psychologist - M.A. typically requires 7+ years of related experience.     Minimum Qualifications:

    • Holds a valid degree from an accredited college or university (School Psychology, or related field.)
    • Hold or be eligible to hold a Washington state ESA school psychologist certificate
    • Successful completion of a criminal history fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior experience with psychologist services in a school setting.

    Knowledge and Abilities:

    • Working knowledge of Special Education law and evaluation requirements
    • Experience administering and interpreting cognitive and behavioral assessments in order to determine eligibility for Special Education
    • Demonstrate good communication skills, sound judgment, and appropriate and positive relations with children and families.
    • Possesses effective organizational skills and able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
    • Demonstrate a strong work ethic, is trustworthy and has the ability to work as part of a team
    • Ability to work with a diverse population.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Provides a full range of school psychological services to children ages 0-21, including screening and assessment, designing remedial educational programs, and individual and group counseling
    • Provide comprehensive evaluation of students including academic and behavioral tracking as an intervention team member and provide comprehensive services to students by applying a wide range of assessment methods, evaluation procedures and intervention strategies.
    • Determine eligibility of children with disabilities
    • The School Psychologist participates as a member of the education team to determine the student's eligibility for special services and evaluates learning environments to meet IEP/IFSP goals and objectives
    • Collaborate with a team in developing educational interventions and assessing student behavioral needs and related services.
    • Model and provide training to staff and students in de-escalation/re-stabilization, problem-solving strategies, and effective communications.
    • Facilitate small group interactions. Provide an environment that allows students to build on social/behavioral skills
    • Provide written reports and documents in a timely manner.
    • Work as a liaison between parents, community and school.
    • Be a resource person and consultant for the development of student behavior modification plans.
    • Ability to work assigned hours, and travel between schools as needed
    • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education
