Diagnoses disorders, including nature and extent, and determines the appropriate course of treatment for the patient. Being a Psychologist - Ph.D uses talk therapy to treat patient illness or distress, cannot prescribe medication. Requires a PhD in clinical psychology. Additionally, Psychologist - Ph.D requires a valid state license to practice. Typically reports to a medical director. The Psychologist - Ph.D works autonomously. Goals are generally communicated in "solution" or project goal terms. May provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge.     We provide statewide leadership of highly valued mental health & addiction prevention, treatment, and recovery at OhioMHAS!

    We are looking for team members who will serve compassionately, contribute & collaborate, deliver quality and be accountable.

    What We Do:

    OhioMHAS operates regional psychiatric hospitals in six locations across the state that operate 365/24/7. Our specialized facilities provide short-term, intensive treatment to patients in both inpatient and community-supported environments. We also deliver comprehensive care to patients committed through the criminal justice system.

    What You'll Do:

    • Functions as lead worker for Psychology Assistants, Psychology Interns & students, & coordinates psychological services & programs: participates in a broad range of professional & clinical activities, providing services to adult & geriatric patients
    • Administers & interprets psychological tests
    • Pprovides individual & group therapy including specialized services to forensic patients when needed
    • Reevaluates forensic & non-forensic patients, as assigned
    • Makes recommendations for treatment & planning
    • Coordinates psychological services & programs
    • Participates in team meetings: prepares psychological notes & reports
    • Follows up work with adult & geriatric patients during their stay in hospital & gives them additional help to prepare them for adjustment to society before final disposition.
    • Serves as psychological consultant in hospital & in community: maintains records & prepares statistical reports.
    • Evaluates adult & geriatric patients regarding involuntary commitment to hospital & testifies at probate court hearings.
