Psychologist - Ph.D evaluates patients for mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders. Diagnoses disorders, including nature and extent, and determines the appropriate course of treatment for the patient. Being a Psychologist - Ph.D uses talk therapy to treat patient illness or distress, cannot prescribe medication. Requires a PhD in clinical psychology. Additionally, Psychologist - Ph.D requires a valid state license to practice. Typically reports to a medical director. The Psychologist - Ph.D works autonomously. Goals are generally communicated in "solution" or project goal terms. May provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge. Psychologist
Job SummaryPsychologists in the Transitional Living Program of Silver Hill Hospital provide direct clinical care and assessment services for adults with mental illness and addiction. These services include individual and group treatment, clinical supervision, case consultation, and psychological assessment. The Psychologist will interface with an inter-disciplinary team to ensure patient-centered, evidence-based, high-quality psychological services throughout the transitional level of care at Silver Hill Hospital.
Position RequirementsEducationPhD or PsyD in Counseling or Clinical Psychology
CertificationsCPR certification required
LicensureLicensed in the state of Connecticut.
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office applications)Experience with electronic medical records
ExperienceFive to seven years’ experience providing high quality psychological interventions with complex patients.Postdoctoral supervision experience and/or postdoctoral training in psychological treatment and assessment.
Specialized knowledge/SkillsIntegrative, flexible approach to treatment.Extensive familiarity with psychodynamic understanding and intensive treatment.Ability to conceptualize patients from multiple perspectives.Extensive and varied assessment experience, including personality and diagnostics.Experience working in psychotherapeutic settings.Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office applications)Experience with electronic medical records
