    The VP, Consumer PR will promote Fifth Third's consumer banking strategy and leadership and protect and defend its reputation. This individual will focus on proactive and reactive media relations, crisis and issues preparedness and management, thought leadership and special projects for Consumer. The role reports directly to the Head of Corporate Communications.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    • Develop and implement strategic external communications plans for Fifth Third's Consumer Bank, including the retail branch network, mortgage and auto finance.
    • Proactive media relations: identify opportunities to build awareness of Consumer strategy, objectives and leadership with earned media coverage.
    • Reactive media relations: protect and defend Consumer's reputation by navigating complex situations.
    • Build and maintain relationships with key reporters across top tier and trade publications, including print and broadcast media.
    • Identify the course of action that efficiently balances strategy and execution, collaborate to implement solutions, and focus on delivering effective communications solutions that elevate the Consumer banking segment.
    • Crisis communications: prepare materials and implement strategies to manage a crisis. Always come with a recommendation and a proposed solution that puts the firm in a position of strength.
    • In collaboration with the full PR team, create a holistic award strategy for Consumer leadership to highlight key accomplishments. Prepare and execute award submissions.
    • Lead Consumer PR for special projects as they arise, including but not limited to litigation defense and other business matters requiring strategic communications support.
    • Seek to understand and navigate every situation to realize the best outcome for the company.
    • Collaborate with leadership and peers to support business objectives, ensuring alignment with existing priorities and standard processes.
    • Plan, edit, and create content for a variety of external communications channels, leadership presentations, newsletters, key messages / scripts, speeches, video, among other work products.
    • Review and analyze available metrics/data to discover trends and make informed recommendations.
    • Build and maintain cross-functional relationships across the company.
    • Continually integrate new technology and best practices to increase impact and efficiency, internally and externally.
    MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
    • Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications or journalism; graduate degree or APR accreditation preferred.
    • Minimum 10 years' experience in public relations and media relations, including experience as on-the-record spokesperson with media.
    • Experience working in the financial services industry preferred.
    • Exceptional research, writing, editorial and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to communicate complex or technical information internally and externally.
    • Skilled strategist who also understands the nuances and tactics of the public relations profession.
    • Ability to manage complex projects in a fast-changing, matrixed environment.
    • Understanding of evolving communications trends.
    • Strong executive presence and high emotional intelligence.
    • Experience working directly with executive leadership.
    • Proven strategic agility and collaboration.
    • Ability to understand and conceptualize specific ideas and theories.
    • Adept time management and responsiveness skills.
    • Must be able to exercise sound judgment independently.
    • Must have the ability to handle conflicts and successfully manage multiple projects concurrently.
    • Proven attention to detail and quality of work.
    • Fluency with Office 365 including Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Microsoft Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and Stream applications.
