Public Relations Director directs and implements a company's public relations strategies. Manages media relations, announcements, editorial placement, and speaking opportunities. Being a Public Relations Director evaluates and authorizes all forms of communication regarding the organization for release to the public. Develops press releases, white papers and supporting materials. Additionally, Public Relations Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Public Relations Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Public Relations Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.   • The Arc of Cumberland & Perry Counties (CPARC) is seeking a dynamic and creative full-time Public Relations Specialist to work out of the main office in Carlisle. CPARC is a nonprofit, human services agency whose mission is to empower, inspire, and educate people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, their families, and the community.

    An enthusiastic agency ambassador, the Public Relations Specialist works to engage various stakeholders in the mission and programs of CPARC. The Public Relations Specialist plans, implements, and analyzes CPARC's public relations and marketing strategies in ways that advance the agency's mission and goals. The Public Relations Specialist also assists to efforts to develop the agency's funding base by organizing fundraising events designed to nurture connections with individuals, businesses, and organizations.

    Some of the duties include:

    • Coordinating agency communications
    • Managing agency website and social media pages
    • Representing CPARC at various public events
    • Organizing staff engagement activities as well as fundraising events on behalf of CPARC and the CPARC Foundation

    Requirements

    Minimum of Bachelor's degree with one year of experience in Public Relations or Human Services field; or Associates degree in Public Relations or related field with two years of related experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Graphic design skills highly preferred and familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro and Canva are desirable. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including comprehensive knowledge of Word, Excel and Publisher. Must have experience coordinating events and have a working knowledge of public relations and media relations. Excellent interpersonal skills are required.

    Position is full-time and starts at $17.84 per hour. An excellent benefits package is offered which includes health, dental, and vision insurance for full time staff, 3 weeks of vacation during your first year of employment, life insurance, long term disability, and a retirement plan.
