Assistant Director of Alumni Relations

    Primary Responsibilities: The Assistant Director of Alumni Relations will assist and lead in the creation, coordination and implementation of alumni programs and events that engage and build affinity of alumni, volunteers, and friends with Saint Vincent College. In collaboration with the Philanthropy and Alumni Relations team, the Assistant Director works independently using best practices to develop, coordinate, promote, maintain and evaluate a wide range of alumni relations activities that engage and involve alumni in meaningful ways, including but not limited to event planning, social media and electronic communications. Activities may be on or off campus, therefore some travel may be required.

    Essential Responsibilities: (These essential responsibilities are those the individual must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation.)

    A. Event Planning:

    • Plan, coordinate, implement and represent the College at alumni events and activities, both internal and external, to enhance the prominence and positive profile of the College in the alumni community, including recognition banquet and homecoming.
    • Maintain Alumni Relations event calendar on the 1846 website.
    • Works effectively with Event and Conference Services to coordinate and implement event details such as menu, counts and set up.
    • Work with other Advancement staff to ensure that the College is represented at appropriate events.
    • Track attendance at events and evaluate their success.

    B. Programs, Projects and Communications:

    • Coordinate and assist with the implementation of alumni engagement programs and projects.
    • Identify new and creative engagement strategies to respond to all segments of alumni base.
    • Work effectively with the Marketing and Communications department to organize electronic alumni communication efforts, and oversee Alumni section of the website to guarantee that it is updated, accurate and user friendly.
    • Effecively engage alumni though the SVC Alumni social media pages, including advertising events, mapping social strategy and sharing relevant news from the College.
    • Manage the collection of alumni data and news for the Saint Vincent Magazine.
    • Create monthly Bearcat Bulletin with content including up-to-date alumni news and stories.
    C. Innovation and General service:
    • Remains current in alumni program/service trends and recommends new programs, services to engage alumni in the mission and vision of the College.
    • Assist the Director with all other duties as assigned.

    D. Miscellaneous

    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    A. Minimum:

    • Education – Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field.
    • Experience: Two to five years’ experience in a similar position which might include customer service and/or constituent relations in higher education.

    Preferred:

    • Education – Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field
    • 2 years of experience performing the work outlined for this position.
    • Demonstrated excellence in writing/editing.
    • Demonstrated computer skills, particularly related to data management, website and social media.
    • Excellent organizational skills, creativity, flexibility, attention to detail and self-motivation.
    • Comfort in public speaking alongside the ability to authentically speak with wide variety of constituents in a multitude of settings and situations.
    • Understanding and knowledge of Saint Vincent College and its constituents.
    • Ability to work with both internal and external audiences in a professional demeanor.
