  • Job Description

    The Danville Life Saving Crew Director of Development & Public Relations oversees the organization’s fundraising efforts, donor development, donation management, public relations, and grant in collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors.

    Responsibilities Performance Expectations / Requirements

    Organizational Leadership

    · Maintains a collaborative working relationship with organizational leadership team and all community partners.

    Operations

    Develops, prepares, and administers federal, state, and local grant proposals.

    ·Coordinates capital improvements strategies with CEO and Crew Chief.

    Leads the organization in its fundraising initiatives including but not limited to the annual gala, golf tournament, and letter campaign.

    Finance

    · Processes and tracks donations issuing gift acknowledgements and letters of gratitude to donors.

    · Manages all donation recordkeeping and reports to the CEO and Board.

    · Tracks progress and expenditures for all grant awards.

    · Prepares written reports to grant funders.

    Public Relations

    • Solicit input, edit, and publish monthly newsletters and weekly publicity as appropriate.
    • Promote the DLSC through social media, website updates, on-line news outlets, radio, and print media.
    • Interview and publish on social media a showcase article on at least one DLSC responder each month.
    • Submit relevant news articles to local print and web-based media.
    • Review and revise publicity materials including the annual report.
    • Publicize fundraising events.
    • Schedule, prepare, and deliver presentations to community groups.

    DLSC Meetings

    · Attend meetings as necessary or required.

    · All other duties and tasks assigned by the Board of Directors of the DLSC to ensure the mission and vision of the DLSC are achieved.

    Required Education & Training

    · Holds at least a high school diploma or equivalent.

    · Demonstrates Initiative and collaborative skills.

    · Excellent personal, verbal, and written communication skills.

    Experience with customer service and public speaking.

    · Experience with recordkeeping.

    · Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and/or PowerPoint.

    Organizational skills and able to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.

    Preferred Education & Training

    · Bachelor’s degree.

    · Experience with fundraising and/or grant development.

    · Experience with social media and graphic software.

    Personal Attributes

    Preferred qualities are empathy, quick thinking, as well as even-temperament, honesty, reliability, punctual, dependability and ability to work well with others. Other skills also include, effective communication, leadership, problem solving and ability and willingness to follow procedures and policies.

    Physical Requirements

    · Ability to sit at a desk completing paper and computer work.

    · Capacity to lift at least 20 pounds.

    Hours of Service

    · 40-hour work week with hours varying hours based on organizational needs.

    • This position is considered exempt and is not eligible for overtime.

    Compensation & Benefits

    • Salaried position ranging between $45,000 and $65,000 based on experience and education.
    • Health insurance: Family coverage is available to full-time employees, paying $400 per month and the employee covering the remaining costs.
    • 401K Retirement Plan is available to all employees with the employer matching up to 3 percent per pay period.
    • Vacation and Paid Time off /Holiday/Sick/personal days are provided as defined by the Employee Handbook.

    Company Vehicle

    · DLSC full and part-time employees may reserve a vehicle through the DLSC vehicle reservation system.
