    Position Summary:

    Workshops for Warriors is seeking a seasoned and strategic Director of Marketing and Public Relations to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer you will lead the planning, development, and execution of comprehensive marketing and public relations strategies across a variety of channels, which promote our educational programs, enhance brand visibility, and drive both prospective student and donor engagement. 

    The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in strategic marketing and public relations, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for driving organizational success through effective communication.  Able to present effectively across all digital platforms as well as in person, you will be as comfortable in front of groups large and small as you are behind a keyboard. 

    Strategies will also include developing marketing communications, public relations activities, brand positioning, and all types of communications with donors, constituents, prospective students, and the community.

    This job is a good fit for an ambitious person with exceptional marketing skills, who is willing to wear many hats and roll-up their sleeves to plan, develop, and manage the marketing efforts of a fast-growing veteran-focused educational institution and non-profit.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Strategic Planning and Development:
    • Develop, lead, and implement a cohesive strategic marketing and public relations plan aligned with organizational objectives and goals.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of marketing and PR efforts with broader organizational strategies.
    • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the company's presence remains innovative and competitive.
    Brand Management:
    • Oversee the development and maintenance of the organization's brand identity.
    • Ensure consistent internal and external messaging and branding across all communication channels.
    Public & Media Relations:
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with media outlets, influencers, and key stakeholders.
    • Develop and execute public relations campaigns to enhance the organization's public image.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and coordinate responses.
    • Proactively seek opportunities for media coverage to promote organizational initiatives.
    • Coordinate event-related marketing and public relations efforts.
    Team Leadership and Collaboration:
    • Lead and mentor a high-performing marketing team.
    • Foster a positive, innovative, and collaborative work environment within the marketing team.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and professional development initiatives for team members.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive and effective marketing campaigns.
    Content Development:
    • Lead the creation of compelling content for various channels, including press releases, articles, blog posts, and social media.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to gather information and develop content that aligns with organizational messaging.
    Digital Marketing:
    • Develop and implement digital marketing strategies to enhance online presence.
    • Oversee social media management, online advertising, and email marketing campaigns.
    Budget Management:
    • Develop and manage the marketing budget, ensuring cost-effective campaigns and efficient allocation of resources, along with identifying opportunities for cost-savings.
    Analytics and Reporting:
    • Utilize analytics tools to track and analyze marketing performance.
    • Provide regular reports to leadership, highlighting key metrics and insights.
    All other duties as assigned. 

    Minimum Education & Work Experience:                                               
    To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily (with or without an accommodation). The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
    • Bachelor’s degree required in Marketing, Communications, Business, Public Relations, or a related field; MBA or equivalent business experience preferred.
    • 3 years of experience in strategic marketing and public relations leadership roles, with a track record of successful campaigns and initiatives. Nonprofit or education experience preferred.
    • 2 years of experience in Affiliate Marketing.
    • 8 years of demonstrated ability in planning, developing, and executing successful campaigns across digital and traditional marketing channels.
    • 2 years of experience in managing a department budget.

    • Advanced understanding and application of marketing strategy and integrated marketing communications.
    • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions.

    • Strong working ability of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
    • Superior organizational skills including attention to detail and time management.
    • Ability to establish and nurture collaborative relationships at all levels, and identify needs and deliver solutions that achieve employee, team, and school goals and satisfaction.
    • Ownership & Drive— ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong follow-through and a focus on owning the outcome.

    Important Notes    
                                                                                 

    Position Details: This is a full-time salaried (exempt) position (40 hours/week).

    Pay: This pay does not include any opportunity for incentive compensation and is only reflective of the base pay for this position.
    The range of pay for this California-based position is $115,000-$130,000 annually.
    Incentive Compensation: This position is eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive Compensation is in addition to base compensation depending on performance.

    Benefits and Perks: Workshops for Warriors makes available comprehensive benefits after 30 days of employment.     Dress code: Our office staff works in a business casual or relaxed business casual environment.

    Supervisory: Supervises an in-house marketing team and oversees relationships with outside marketing agencies.

    Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
    The employee frequently is required to stand; sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to push, move, lift or otherwise bear 10-30lbs. Applications may include but are not limited to repetitive work using a computer keyboard, mouse and headphones while sitting and/or standing at an assigned work desk area.

    Work Environment: The employee works in an office/administration building in an urban industrial neighborhood. Other areas within the school are mixed use such as classrooms, welding and machining areas.
    Employee may have additional environmental hazards such as: chemical, electrical, flammable, or mechanical in nature.
