    Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology has an amazing opportunity for individuals excited and committed to lifelong learning and being a key member of our leadership team as our next Associate Director of Athletics, Communications, & Public Relations.

    As our new Associate Director of Athletics, Communications, & Public Relations, you will oversee, develop, and implement media relations plans and publicity for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education. While serving as the executive producer of the Athletics Website, you will manage the day-to-day operations of athletics communications including maintenance of the website and archives for 20 varsity sports and area budget management. As the Associate Director of Athletics, Communications, & Public Relations you will serve as the primary communications contact for the Athletic Director and internal department affairs by directing public relations, media relations, sports information, and feature stories in print and electronic media. You will develop and implement media relations plans for assigned sports programs to attain and maintain positive exposure for Athletics and student-athletes as well as write, edit, and publish print materials including media guides, press releases, contest programs, contest recaps, and feature stories for assigned sports programs. As our new Associate Director of Athletics, Communications, & Public Relations, you will pitch stories to appropriate media outlets, track and clip media mentions, follow up with media contacts and coordinate with university resources. In addition to carrying out administrative supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the institute’s policies and applicable laws, you will provide daily verbal and written communication to the unit and department staff as well as administratively supervise, lead, and provide technical mentorship for team members.

    Qualified candidates will hold a bachelor’s degree in communications, sports management, or a related field and three years of related professional experience is required. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills are necessary. Must be able to adhere to proper grammar and Institute editorial guidelines. Effective time management, organizational and program coordination skills are required. Strong analytical and fiscal management skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision are essential. Must be computer literate, specifically with spreadsheets, social media, and web design. In addition to these qualifications, preferred applicants will have a master’s degree in communications, sports management, or a related field and five years of related professional experience. Division 3 coaching experience is preferred.
