Public Relations Manager develops and implements policies and procedures for the public relations department. Maintains favorable public image for employer or client by communicating programs, accomplishments, and/or points of view. Being a Public Relations Manager evaluates all forms of communications before release to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of message and authorizes release. Prepares and distributes news releases, fact sheets, scripts, etc. to media outlets. Additionally, Public Relations Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Public Relations Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. POSITION OVERVIEW: The public relations intern is a critical component in our response to anti-immigrant laws in Texas. You will gain hands-on experience at a critical moment for our state. You will be responsible for supporting the strategic communications team in executing various strategies to build and maintain key performance metrics. This position reports directly to the director of strategic communications and works closely with the executive director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking an energetic public relations intern to specifically support strategic communications regarding SB 4. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, deep cultural competency, fluency in English and Spanish, plus an understanding of immigration policy and state law.
