Public Relations Manager develops and implements policies and procedures for the public relations department. Maintains favorable public image for employer or client by communicating programs, accomplishments, and/or points of view. Being a Public Relations Manager evaluates all forms of communications before release to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of message and authorizes release. Prepares and distributes news releases, fact sheets, scripts, etc. to media outlets. Additionally, Public Relations Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Public Relations Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be a Public Relations Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required. What to expect as a Public Relations Intern at Tombras:
Commitment to an 8 week, paid internship, $18 an hour starting on 6/3/24 and ending on 7/26/24 with a maximum of 25 hours per week.
Content creation: blog posts, news releases, slide decks, etc.
Researching and assisting with projects on behalf of multiple clients
Executing tactical elements of public relations, including building media lists, curating coverage and compiling analytics via third-party platforms
Assisting with the creation of comprehensive PR reports
Onsite support at PR events as needed
Experience:
Candidate should be currently enrolled as a senior in an undergraduate program or be a recent graduate with a relevant major, i.e., public relations, advertising, journalism or marketing and possess the following:
Strong written and oral communication skills
Personal and professional poise and a positive attitude
Experience juggling multiple assignments/projects
Familiarity with AP style
Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, Google Docs/Sheets and Keynote or PowerPoint
A strong work ethic, a passion for learning and a desire to receive constructive feedback
