Public Relations Manager develops and implements policies and procedures for the public relations department. Maintains favorable public image for employer or client by communicating programs, accomplishments, and/or points of view. Being a Public Relations Manager evaluates all forms of communications before release to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of message and authorizes release. Prepares and distributes news releases, fact sheets, scripts, etc. to media outlets. Additionally, Public Relations Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Public Relations Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be a Public Relations Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Team Member Relations Manager

    Under the direction of the Executive Director of Human Resources, the Team Member Relations Manager provides day to day leadership on behalf of the Team Member Relations team. Promotes a positive work environment by planning and executing programs that establish and maintain effective Team Member relations through the consistent and equitable application of policies and procedures. The Team Member Relations Manager receives and evaluates Team Member relations concerns and recommends appropriate course of actions to address and resolve Team Member issues.

     

    This role and its function are part of the Human Resources shared services model. A Team Member in a shared service structure, works within a dedicated business unit (including people, processes, and technologies) that is structured as a centralized point of service and is focused on defined business functions. These units typically serve multiple business groups enterprise wide, and typically have established Service Level Agreements.

    Responsibilities

    • Reviews and approves disciplinary actions in accordance with company policies and procedures.
    • Advises and counsels departmental management regarding performance problems and appropriate courses of action.
    • Coordinates internal appeal hearings and ensures they are conducted according to directions and standards established by the Casino and Casino’s Attorneys.
    • Conducts investigations as directed by the Director of Human Resources.
    • Conducts exit interviews for voluntary separations.
    • Provides feedback to Human Resources and departmental management regarding trends revealed in the exit interviews.
    • Provides feedback to Recruiters regarding the level of competency of terminated Team Members.
    • Completes and processes all Employment Development Department (EDD) forms regarding unemployment claims.
    • Reviews, processes, and attends all EDD appeal hearings. Interviews management or witnesses and obtains statements.
    • Prepares and schedules involuntary separations. Gathers supporting information and processes PAFs and exit forms as directed by the Director of Human Resources.
    • Works with Team Members and all levels of leadership regarding team member related concerns.
    • Facilitates human resource related meetings or trainings, for all levels.
    • Hires, trains, coaches, and manages performance of Team Member Relations team; and communicates with Director of Human Resources on issues that may need further disciplinary actions.
    • Proactively provides leadership, support, advocacy, and vision to the Team Member Relations team; manages the day-to-day operations of the Team Member Relations office.
    • Leads and develops Team Member Relations Specialists.
    • Builds a work environment that promotes teamwork, partnership, recognition, mutual respect, collaboration, performance feedback/management, and Team Member satisfaction while role modeling the company values, behaviors, and culture of One.Team.Chumash.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • High School diploma or GED certificate.  
    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent experience.
    • Five years of experience in Human Resource, Employee Relations, Labor Relations, or progressive relevant work experience in employment law or related function. Two years in a supervisory role.
    • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality with high volumes of sensitive employee information.
    • Ability to work flexible shifts and days of the week, including occasional nights, holidays, and weekends.
    • Intermediate proficiency in computers, including Microsoft Office, e-mail, and Internet.
    • Previous experience in hospitality and/or gaming industry is highly desirable.
    • Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
    • Must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency.
    • Native American hiring preference applies.

    • Written Communication: Expressing ideas and opinions clearly in properly structured, well organized, and grammatically correct reports or documents; utilizing language and terminology that is understandable for the reader.
    • Oral Communication: Shaping and expressing ideas and information in an effective manner.
