Public Relations Manager develops and implements policies and procedures for the public relations department. Maintains favorable public image for employer or client by communicating programs, accomplishments, and/or points of view. Being a Public Relations Manager evaluates all forms of communications before release to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of message and authorizes release. Prepares and distributes news releases, fact sheets, scripts, etc. to media outlets. Additionally, Public Relations Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Public Relations Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be a Public Relations Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Position Title: Community and Public Relations Manager
    Department: Community and Public Relations
    Reports to: Executive Director

    SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
    Two (2) Years public relations experience preferred. Experience with Public Relations in regard to public speaking, educating, and coordinating events is necessary. This position must have strong verbal and written communications skills as well as demonstrable experience in coordination of internal and external communications. Must be motivated and able to start and complete tasks while requiring minimal supervision. Experience with participation and coordination of outreach programs and needs assessment is preferable. Knowledge of Audio/Visual aid development and computers a plus.

    PHYSICAL EFFORT/WORKING CONDITIONS:
    Position generally will be working in an office environment, attending meetings, and performing administrative functions as described below with customary office tools. You must be able to lift and transport, including driving, equipment to and from courses. Person will be able to walk, stoop, kneel, bend, twist, drive, sit, squat, climb and the capability to lift over 100 pounds when necessary. This Position must be flexible in their work schedule to accommodate community, employee, and Public Relations events.

    PAY AND BENEFITS: 65k - 72k DOE

    ACCOUNTABILITIES:
    Community Relations: This position has contact with community service organizations, schools, co-responders and other special needs groups in providing EMS awareness, outreach/education and injury/illness prevention programs. This position is responsible for coordinating and representing RIGGS Ambulance Service in the different communities in Merced County.

    Within this general framework, this position is accountable for the following functions:
    • Career Presentations at schools and community organizations
    • Ambulance Awareness presentations at schools and community organizations
    • 911 Awareness
    • Health and Safety Fairs
    • First Aid classes
    • Every 15 Minutes
    • Drug Store Project
    • School celebrations and/or events
    • Parades
    • Identify injury/illness prevention needs and develops programs to meet those needs.
    • Develop partnerships with EMS partners and community service organizations to meet the needs of the communities we serve.
    • Additional duties as assigned
    Employee Relations: This position has contact with all of the employees in the SEMSA/RIGGS organization. This position will be responsible for a positive connection to employees through events and activities designed to support our employees.

    Within this general framework, this position is accountable for the following functions:

    • Present at new hire orientation the role of public relations within the company
    • Coordinate Birthday Cards for every employee
    • Coordinate Anniversary Cards for every employee
    • Coordinate Stars of Life
    • Breast Cancer T-Shirt Fundraiser
    • Thanksgiving Meal for Crews
    • Holiday Activities including Operation Give Hope
    • EMS Week Activities including celebration events, activities, and awards
    • Lucky Bucks
    • RIGGS Cheer
    • ID Badges
    • Additional duties as assigned
    Public Relations: This position will be responsible for internal, external, media, and crisis
    communications within the SEMSA/RIGGS organization. This position will be responsible for the overall perception of RIGGS Ambulance service in the communities we serve.

    Within this general framework, this position is accountable for the following functions:

    • Follow HIPPA guidelines
    • SEMSA/RIGGS Websites
    • SEMSA/RIGGS Dashboards and Blog
    • Writing press releases and working with the local media
    • Ordering business cards and Letterhead
    • Taking Photographs for Employee and Public Relations purposes
    • Miscellaneous design of flyers and publications materials
    • SEMSA/RIGGS Social Media Activities: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram
    • Coordination of EMS Patient Satisfaction Survey
    • Additional duties as assigned
