  • About the Position

    Meissner Sewing is hiring a Marketing Manager to assist in the company’s continued success, with a special emphasis on e-commerce growth. Applicant must have 5 years of experience in marketing, a high level of personal integrity, along with a strong marketing, ecommerce and sales background. This individual should have excellent communications skills, great attention to detail, strong leadership skills and ability to manage multiple projects, budgets and timelines. The small business environment at Meissner Sewing requires the Marketing Manager to strategize as well as execute marketing initiatives – all with a focus on driving in-store and online traffic. Following is a list of responsibilities:

    Develop a Marketing Plan

    •  Work closely with Meissner Sewing’s General Manager (GM) to develop a marketing plan
    • The plan should include marketing and PR strategies for Meissner Sewing’s 5 brick-and-mortar retail locations; digital marketing and advertising through website and social channels; event and class marketing; store merchandising and other marketing needs identified
    • The plan should have an emphasis on growing e-commerce sales for the company
    • Oversee a marketing team of contractors and staff and work alongside them to execute the marketing plan
    • Develop and monitor key performance indicators to measure success of all marketing and advertising programs

    Assist in Growing Online Sales

    • Working closely with the Sales Manager and GM, the Marketing Manager will research and identify opportunities for increased sales online
    • Evaluate existing sales platforms (website, social media) and recommend feasible and lucrative growth opportunities
    • Develop those online sales platforms, which may include website development, social media store creation, etc.
    • Oversee development and execution of digital marketing content designed to sell products online, including website redevelopment, video production, digital ad creation, written content and social posts

    Oversee Email Campaigns

    • Evaluate current email marketing campaigns and determine cadence, content and design
    • Oversee the current email program by:
    • Monitoring other successful email campaigns and incorporating creative ideas
    • Include current vendor promotions
    • Identify and include reasons for customers to come in stores or make purchases online
    • Ensure Meissner Sewing branding is communicated in each email
    • Manage and assist with actual design and creation of emails
    • Oversee video production commonly used in weekly email blasts
    • Measure success of past videos and incorporate most successful tactics
    • Work with GM & Sales Manager to select products and services to be featured in videos
    • Select filming locations and draft scripts for talent if needed
    • Schedule and work with videographer to shoot and edit videos
    • Monitor and recommend custom targeted emails, including the development and oversight of new customer acquisition emails

    Manage Social Media Platforms

    • Act as the main point of contact for all Meissner Sewing social channels
    • Respond to customer requests and disseminate messages to other staff as needed – this includes monitoring social channels on weekends and holidays
    • Develop and implement strategies to increase positive engagement and following on all channels
    • Develop and increase sales on social channels, as determined by the marketing and advertising plan

    Oversee E-Newsletters

    • Oversee development and creation of a quarterly “Meissner Maker” digital newsletter
    • Work alongside graphic designer to create layout and design esthetic for the piece
    • Monitor and incorporate sales and promotions from vendors
    • Ensure all details of sales, promotions, classes and events are accurate before newsletter dissemination

    Manage In-Store Signage, Merchandising & Branding

    • Oversee ongoing updates to in-store signage at all 5 retail locations
    • Ensure that in-store marketing signs are accurate and updated regularly to ensure consistency across all stores
    • Work with store manages to provide recommendations for merchandising at each location including both in-store design and esthetic as well as outdoor signage and building appearance
    • Provide recommendations on permanent signage, storage and décor at each store, including in classroom and event areas
    • All signage, merchandising and branding should include point-of-purchase material provided by vendors along with Meissner’s own company esthetic and design

    Market Events & Classes

    • Oversee and collect all class and event information from teachers and other staff
    • Develop timelines and methods for marketing each class or event to ensure registration minimums are met
    • Define and target specific audiences
    • Provide recommendations for additional classes and events that will help increase store or website traffic

    Manage Advertising

    • Oversee all aspects of paid advertising including digital, social, print and sponsorship ads
    • Research, vet and make recommendations on new advertising opportunities

    Oversee Public Relations & Community Involvement

    • Identify opportunities for Meissner Sewing to gain positive recognition through PR efforts such as local media interviews, working with influencers, partnering with other related organizations, speeches and networking opportunities for management staff
    • Create proposals for each recommended program and work with appropriate staff to execute and evaluate success

    Manage Marketing Staff & Vendors

    • Act as the main point of contact for all marketing vendors
    • Provide ongoing evaluation and guidance to other marketing staff and contractors
    • Oversee all marketing staff and vendor projects ensuring optimum time management and utilization of resources
    • Give recommendations on staff training and development

    Oversee Marketing Budget

    • Provide recommendations on how and where to spend marketing and advertising dollars and oversee that allotted budget
    • Track and utilize vendor promotions and co-op dollars to further the marketing budget

    $70,000 - $80,000 based on experience

    Work Locations

    Marketing Manager will work out of the headquarter location in Sacramento at 2417 Cormorant Way, but occasional travel to the following outlying stores will also be required:

    • Roseville Store: 9250 Fairway Dr. #110
    • Santa Rosa Store: 1455 Santa Rosa Ave #B1
    • San Jose Store: 4688 Meridian Ave
