Public Relations Manager develops and implements policies and procedures for the public relations department. Maintains favorable public image for employer or client by communicating programs, accomplishments, and/or points of view. Being a Public Relations Manager evaluates all forms of communications before release to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of message and authorizes release. Prepares and distributes news releases, fact sheets, scripts, etc. to media outlets. Additionally, Public Relations Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Public Relations Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be a Public Relations Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Public Relations Specialist
POSITION IN-OFFICE in SPRINGFIELD, MA
The primary function of this job is establishing and maintaining relationships with members of the media by writing and pitching press releases and other media communications following AP Style, responding to requests for information, and coaching client representatives in the correct way of communicating with the public and the media. Other aspects include but are not limited to: crafting compelling copy for various marketing pieces such as blogs, web content, and other digital/social campaigns as well.
The most successful candidates will possess the ability to be persistent and assertive in achieving results, and do so by having exemplary interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently.
