Barbaricum is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Public Relations Specialist to support the US Army Futures Command (AFC) Headquarters in its mission to ensure war-winning future readiness. Personnel will support AFC’s HQ directorates, subordinate commands, research laboratories, innovation hubs, and Cross-Functional Teams (CFTs).

An ideal candidate will play a key role in visually communicating the AFC mission, values, and strategic initiatives through creative and compelling design solutions. As a Public Relations Specialist, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing strategic communication plans, fostering media relationships, and ensuring consistent and positive messaging across various channels.

• Contribute to the development and execution of communication plans to align with organizational goals and objectives.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure effective communication strategies.
• Conduct research to inform public relations strategies and campaigns.
• Evaluate and assess the impact of communication efforts, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
• Ensure web content is up-to-date, accurate, and aligned with branding guidelines.
• Plan, coordinate, and support various events, ensuring seamless execution.
• Collaborate with event stakeholders to meet communication objectives and enhance public relations.
• Provide support in managing and disseminating government information in compliance with regulations.
• Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure information accuracy and adherence to protocols.

• Active DoD Secret Clearance required
• BA/BS from an accredited college or university with degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, English, Creative Writing or similar discipline
• Minimum of 5 years direct, relevant experience in Public Relations, Public Affairs or Communications with a focus on strategy development and media relations
• Experience within DoD Environment preferred but not required
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to think strategically and creatively to generate positive media coverage
• Experience managing and mitigating crisis communications
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with media contacts
• Familiarity with digital and social media platforms
