Public School Teacher prepares lesson plans and instructs students in an assigned school. Develops and implements grade appropriate course work, activities, and assessments to meet the academic needs of children in a K-12 classroom setting. Being a Public School Teacher evaluates and monitors student's performance. Assesses and documents students' progress. Additionally, Public School Teacher participates in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans for specific students. Resolves classroom issues and conflicts. May participate in implementing special programs for students. May supervise teaching assistants. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require specific state-level teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Public School Teacher occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Position Responsibilities
    • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students and provides a learning climate for the students.
    • Assume responsibility for the safety, conduct and health of the students under his/her supervision.
    • Ensure physical upkeep of the classroom and equipment is maintained.
    • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and ---- in harmony with the goals ---- establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
    • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
    • Strive to implement by instruction and action the district"s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.

    Qualifications
    • Michigan Department of Education Teacher Certification with various 6-12 endorsements
