Christ the Teacher Catholic School, a nationally recognized school located in Newark,
Delaware, is searching for a highly-motivated, engaging, initiative-seeking Learning Support teacher for K-3 for the 2024-2025 school year.
As a McAuley Center Learning Support Teacher for K-3 students at Christ the Teacher
Catholic school, you will play a vital role in providing specialized assistance and intervention
to ensure the academic success of all students within the framework of our faith-based
community. Your primary responsibility will be to work collaboratively with the Director of
the McAuley Center, classroom teachers, administrators, and support staff to identify and
address the unique learning needs of students, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive academically, socially, and spiritually.
This role requires a dedicated and compassionate educator who is committed to meeting the diverse needs of young learners and supporting their holistic development within the context of Catholic values and teachings.
Responsibilities:
● Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and support professionals to
identify students who may benefit from additional learning support and intervention
within a Catholic school setting.
● Conduct assessments, screenings, and observations to identify students' strengths,
challenges, and areas for growth, integrating principles of Catholic education and
faith formation.
● Develop and implement individualized support plans and interventions to address
students' academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs while fostering spiritual
growth and development.
● Provide targeted instruction and small group support to students, focusing on
foundational skills such as literacy, numeracy, executive functioning, and social skills
development within the context of Catholic teachings.
● Adapt and modify curriculum materials, instructional strategies, and learning
activities to meet the diverse learning styles and abilities of students while infusing
Catholic values and teachings throughout.
● Monitor students' progress and growth, adjusting interventions and supports as
needed to ensure continuous improvement and success within a Catholic educational
framework.
● Communicate regularly with parents/guardians, providing updates on students'
progress, achievements, and areas for growth, and collaborating on strategies for
support that align with Catholic values.
● Participate in team meetings, professional development opportunities, and
collaborative planning sessions to enhance instructional practices and support the
overall mission of the Catholic school community.
● Uphold the mission, vision, and values of the Catholic Church and the school
community, modeling Catholic values and fostering a sense of community and
belonging among students and staff.
Requirements:
● Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field (Master's degree
preferred).
● Valid teaching certification/license (DE or MD)
● Experience working with young children in an educational setting, preferably in a K-3
or early childhood environment within a Catholic school.
● Knowledge of early childhood development, assessment tools, and evidence-based
interventions for supporting students with diverse learning needs within the context
of Catholic education.
● Strong understanding of differentiated instruction, instructional strategies, and
intervention techniques infused with Catholic teachings.
● Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to
work effectively within a Catholic school community.
● Compassion, patience, and empathy when working with students and families within
a faith-based context.
● Flexibility, creativity, and a willingness to adapt teaching strategies to meet the
individual needs of students within a Catholic educational framework.
