About the Position
This is a general posting that will be used to generate an applicant pool for secondary summer school teaching positions. Teachers will be expected on-site to support in-person high school students (grades 9-12) in the following areas: English, Social Studies, Math, Science, PE/Health, and Special Education. While applications will be accepted from both internal and external applicants, preference will be given to internal applicants. A valid Washington State Teaching Certificate is required for these positions.
Summer School Teacher Responsibilities
The Summer School Teacher will act as a support for students participating in the summer session. Duties include:
- Attend required orientation and training
- Monitoring student progress

Helping students set daily goals for coursework
- Following through with students to ensure they have met daily goals
- Responding promptly to student questions
- Reading and responding to email frequently
- Monitoring assessments
- Communicating with families and students
- Making phone or email contact with students and families when students are not making adequate progress or have not started a course they are enrolled in
- Initiate occasional meetings with small groups of students as needed
- Maintaining consistent office hours for students and families
- Other job duties as needed
Key Information/Dates
- Staff Orientation and Training July 6, 2023 (Training will take place in varying degrees based on prior experience and training.)
- Summer School runs July 10, 2023 - August 3, 2023, M-Th, 8:00-12:30
Salary
Hourly position paid via timesheet: $49.53 per hour as a teacher and $26.76 per hour for required training on July 6, 2023.
Required Qualifications
Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate.
