Community School of Naples (CSN), an independent, college preparatory school, is currently seeking a motivated and talented Upper School (grades 9-12) Science Teacher to teach Chemistry (AP Chemistry, Chemistry Honors) and one additional science course, with the average class size approximately 14-16 students. This is a full-time position, beginning in August 2024.
The Upper School Science Department endeavors to cultivate in its students the ability to think critically and constructively, and the ability to communicate clearly and accurately their ideas, thoughts, and results. As an upper school science teacher at CSN, this individual should demonstrate a passion and expertise in the teaching of science and a willingness to develop a vibrant, challenging curriculum that allows students to engage in learning through research and experimentation.
This position includes the possibility of an appointment as Middle and Upper School Science Department Chair and the stipend that goes with it. Department Chair responsibilities include overseeing the Middle and Upper School Science curriculum, chairing regular departmental meetings, assessing staffing needs, and supporting, evaluating, and mentoring department members. The ideal candidate is a proven leader in providing vision, leadership, and support for quality teaching and learning of science. As the department chair reports on progress, needs and issues to the appropriate Division Head, effective communication is essential.
The position requires a Bachelor's degree in science, although a Master’s degree is preferred, as well as a minimum of three years of teaching experience. Ability and passion for teaching new or existing science electives is an advantage. In order to support our STEM Scholars and AP Capstone initiatives, experience in teaching the skills of scientific research or competing in science fair competitions is a definite plus. All Upper School science labs are located in the state-of-the-art Institute of Science and Environmental Research building, which opened in August 2020.

This appointment is for the 2024/2025 academic year starting with orientation on August 7, 2024, and is paid on an annual salary commensurate with experience, degree attainment, and qualifications.
