Public School Teacher prepares lesson plans and instructs students in an assigned school. Develops and implements grade appropriate course work, activities, and assessments to meet the academic needs of children in a K-12 classroom setting. Being a Public School Teacher evaluates and monitors student's performance. Assesses and documents students' progress. Additionally, Public School Teacher participates in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans for specific students. Resolves classroom issues and conflicts. May participate in implementing special programs for students. May supervise teaching assistants. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require specific state-level teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Public School Teacher occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
- Endorsements in Science (DX or DI) - 2nd Certification is highly encouraged
Responsibilities:
- Prepare course objectives, outlines, and instruction for course of study following district and state guidelines and requirements
- Integration of appropriate media and technology into teaching and learning practices to maximize instruction time and motivate students
- Establish and enforce classroom management procedures consistent with district, PBIS and MTSS initiatives
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests
- Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstrations, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question and investigate
- Prepare, administer, and grade assessments and assignments with feedback to evaluate students' progress
