Public School Teacher prepares lesson plans and instructs students in an assigned school. Develops and implements grade appropriate course work, activities, and assessments to meet the academic needs of children in a K-12 classroom setting. Being a Public School Teacher evaluates and monitors student's performance. Assesses and documents students' progress. Additionally, Public School Teacher participates in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans for specific students. Resolves classroom issues and conflicts. May participate in implementing special programs for students. May supervise teaching assistants. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require specific state-level teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Public School Teacher occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. To be a Public School Teacher typically requires 2 -4 years of related experience. (Copyright 2024 Salary.com)

Historic Clarendon School District One (CSD1) is where Briggs-Elliott and Pearson filed a lawsuit which gave impetus to the Landmark Case, Brown v. Board of Education that impacted education across America. Our student population is 97% African American, 93.5% free and reduced lunch and 13.6% special education.

     

    Academics

    Students in the district are prepared for competitive careers and education pathways. CSD1 offers unique learning environments that include an integration of college-preparatory curriculum, career training, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), and fine arts.

    CSD1 is currently accepting applications for educators in the following subject areas/grade levels for the 2020-2021 school year:

    • High School Mathematics - Must have valid (or be eligible for) SC Science or Biology certification

    Applicants should be passionate, energetic, and dedicated to working with students. Candidates should have a relentless commitment to educating and engaging students in their academic pursuits. Candidates must hold at least a B.A./B.S. in a related field; be certified to teach the position for which they are applying. Candidates with prior teaching experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
