Public School Teacher prepares lesson plans and instructs students in an assigned school. Develops and implements grade appropriate course work, activities, and assessments to meet the academic needs of children in a K-12 classroom setting. Being a Public School Teacher evaluates and monitors student's performance. Assesses and documents students' progress. Additionally, Public School Teacher participates in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans for specific students. Resolves classroom issues and conflicts. May participate in implementing special programs for students. May supervise teaching assistants. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require specific state-level teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Public School Teacher occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Agriculture science teachers educate students about agriculture, food and natural resources. Through these subjects, agriculture science teachers educate students on a wide variety of skills, including science, math, communications, leadership, management and technology. You will also advise the FFA chapter.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Help all students develop competence and confidence simultaneously through a balance of acquiring basic skills and developing conceptual understanding.
    • Monitor, supervise, coordinate and enforce rule of conduct and behavior for assigned students, and reinforce positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy.
    • Observes, evaluates, reports and records students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
    • Communicates with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems.
    • Prepare educational course outlines, objectives and materials according to curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.
    • Present subject matter to students, using various teaching methods and technology, adjusting teaching style and method to meet student learning style.
    • Enhance youth leadership and FFA as an integral part of instruction
    • Prepare and submit FFA rosters, entries, registrations, etc.


    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    • Have the ability to demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills.
    • Provide effective written and verbal communication skills.
    • Have the ability to manage classroom and coordinate and instruct student activities.
    • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.


    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in education or in the subject areas for which you are applying.


    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

    • Have a valid Indiana state teaching license.
