Public Transportation Inspector inspects and compiles information concerning activities and conduct of employees on public railroads, streetcars, and buses and submits written reports of findings. May require an associate's degree with at least 4 years of experience in the field. Being a Public Transportation Inspector is familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Construction Inspector - Transportation

  • Job Summary: Observation and inspection of various construction projects including roadways, bridges, pedestrian facilities, utilities, and associated improvements. Daily travel required within Southwest Florida area. Company vehicle provided.

    Essential Duties:

    • Measures distances to verify accuracy of dimensions of structural installations and layouts.
    • Verifies levels, alignment, and elevation of installations.
    • Observe work in progress to determine whether procedures followed, and materials used are in reasonable conformance with applicable specifications.
    • Interprets blueprints and specifications for Contractor and discusses deviations from specified construction procedures to ensure compliance with regulations governing construction.
    • Maintains daily log of construction and inspection activities and compares progress reports.
    • Track progress and quantity of construction work items.
    • Perform and document testing of certain construction work items as defined in the contract documents.

    Qualifications:

    • Construction experience required in roadway, bridge, utility and/or site civil construction required. CEI experience with roadway construction preferred. Pay will be commensurate with experience level.
    • Existing construction certifications (CTQP, MOT, ACI, Troxler, etc.) preferred but not required. Applicant must be willing and able to attain necessary certifications.
    • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
    • Must have an excellent driving record, be at least 21 years of age and have a valid Florida driver’s license.
