Job Title: Dispatcher

Reports To: Logistics Manager

Supervises Others: No

Minimum Salary: $15.00 Hourly; Non-exempt

Essential Functions:

• Monitors service and coordinates radio and cell phone communication with in service vehicles
• Reports and coordinates responses to service interruptions or events that may result in a service interruption
• Verifies and monitors driver and vehicle pullout in accordance to the schedule
• Records operator call outs
• Records operator downtime and determines operator clock out times in accordance to the Company’s downtime policy
• Records passenger no shows, cancellations, not readies and reroutes
• Communicates vital information to management and operators to include driver callouts, vehicle breakdowns, incidents/accidents, road closures, special transportation requests and potential service interruptions and any other information pertinent to operations
• Collects and distributes manifests and fixed-route data
• Collects driver trip sheets, VCRs, driver fare envelopes and other items received from courier to be distributed
• Coordinates vehicle and operator swaps
• Ensures timely opening and closing of the administrative facility
• Provides information to passengers upon request

Required Knowledge, Skills and Ability:

· Knowledge, skill and ability to articulate and communicate to drivers, the public and other WPRTA employees

· Knowledge of Authority’s services and operating practices and policies

· Ability and skill to operate various types of equipment to include multiple phone line, two-way radios, mobile phones, computers and other office equipment

· Ability to make decision and take initiative

· Ability to avoid and respond to service interruptions

· Knowledge of time management and ability to multitask

· Knowledge and ability to use the English language both written and orally

· Customer service skills

· Ability to work flexible hours to include over-time

Physical Requirements:

· Must be able to perform light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous dispatch experience preferred

Other Requirements:

· Drug and alcohol testing shall be conducted in accordance with Local, State and/or Federal regulations.
