Public Works Compliance Inspector

  • Job Description

    The City of Lynn Haven is seeking a Public Works and Public Utilities Inspector who's primary role is to ensure the safety of water and wastewater systems and ensure compliance with US EPA regulations. Responsibilities include the inspection and monitoring of conditions and documenting/reporting findings as required by law. This position may also recommend corrections and repairs to mitigate any negative environmental effects. The PU Compliance Inspector works directly with contractors and staff. Some examples of duties include:

    • Review and inspect all the Backflow installations to ensure they are correctly installed.
    • Maintain all records in Backflow BMP software for tracking purposes. Prepare annual report for the FDEP reporting requirements.
    • Review and inspect all the Public Utility Final inspections to ensure that they meet all the requirements for the City of Lynn Haven, sign off as completed with remarks and return finding to the Building Department.
    • Review and inspect all Storm Water Final inspections to ensure they meet all the requirements for the City of Lynn Haven, sign off as completed with remarks and return finding to the Building Department.
    • Enforce the new Pretreatment Ordinance for the City of Lynn Haven to ensure that customers are adhering to the Sewer Use Ordinance. Investigate any complaints that could be considered an “Illicit Discharge” as defined in Ordinance 626.
    • At the direction of the Director/Assistant Director, inspect and comment on structures that are owned by the City and assist with any remedies that may be needed.
    • Assist in the implementation of a new FOG Ordinance that will be a stand-alone Ordinance. Assist customers in the interpretation and execution of deficiencies found during routine inspections.

     

    Minimum Qualifications include:

    • Graduation from an accredited high school, with additional post-secondary or trade school education desired.
    • At least four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in the public works/public utilities. 
    • At least one (1) year of formal or informal supervisory experience leading crews.
