SUMMARY:

The purpose of this position is to take the lead to assimilate non-centralized procurement areas into the centralized procurement operating model. Target areas are: Indirect Services; Human Resources, Information Technology, Premiums, Research & Development. Spend that has been historically overseen by functional groups without procurement engagement. This Procurement Generalist will interface both with consultants and VP-level Hormel key stakeholders to build strategy, lead internal alignment, and standup framework to future category management. This role will work in partnership to develop the strategy and implementation for multiple Hormel spend categories, potentially in the range of $600M - $1B in spend. 

The ideal candidate has a diverse Procurement background, preferably with Indirect Procurement experience. They are both solutions and detail-oriented and possess strong skills in the following areas: negotiation, influencing without authority, able to build high speed of trust, excellent communication, change management and project management. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop framework and strategy for new procurement areas in the centralized model. 
• Partner with outside consultants and internal stakeholder senior leaders to collaborate and align on engagement and cost savings projects.
• Negotiate complex contracts with key suppliers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field: Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or related hard science field 
• Broad procurement and business knowledge, as demonstrated by previous category management in Direct Materials and Indirect Services. Technology contracting a plus
• Strong core procurement skills, and strong stakeholder engagement
• 10 years of experience in Procurement or Supply Chain, leading improvements within category
• Ability to work both independently and interface with cross functional team members
• Demonstrated leadership skills with high resiliency and speed of trust
• Proven problem-solving, decision-making, and negotiation skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States

Location: Austin, MN or Willmar, MN.

A comprehensive relocation package to the Austin, MN area or Willmar, MN area will be offered, if needed.
