Punch Press Operator configures and operates electrically powered presses to cut, shape, and form metal, plastic, or other materials used in manufacturing operations. Performs operations such as blanking, bending, punching, and forming based on blueprints and other instructions. Being a Punch Press Operator responsibilities include configuring equipment and calibrating gauge settings, recognizing condition of dies, loading materials onto the equipment, feeding material through die, and positioning and removing parts from the die. Keeps a record of operational data and performs routine equipment maintenance. Additionally, Punch Press Operator monitors work schedule to ascertain production information, such as size, type, and quantity to be processed. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Punch Press Operator works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. About you and this role - What you will do in this role Dow has an exciting opportunity for an Operator in Orange, Texas within the Sabine River Operations (SRO) Energy and Environmental Operations Department (EEO). In this role, you will utilize operations knowledge and experience, to proactively operate the plant in a safe, reliable, and optimal manner. You will work with shift team members to efficiently anticipate and resolve unplanned events within the capabilities of the shift team and effectively escalates issues that cannot be resolved to the appropriate support roles. Responsibilities - Duties, projects, tasks, and activities you would be responsible for in this role Follow Operating Discipline policies, principles, procedures, standards and practices to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of assigned plant areas. Operate process equipment by monitoring process conditions, key performance metrics, field equipment and control systems. Making appropriate decisions to maintain and/or achieve desired rates and conditions aligned with Plant/Site/Business goals. Use process knowledge and skills to improve plant performance and operating discipline. Proactively identify improvements and opportunities utilizing facility improvement processes, appropriate management of change processes and communication tools. Maintain qualifications in assigned areas, per facility policy, and complete training goals in a timely manner. This includes using discretionary time to address skills and knowledge gaps. Mentor and train new and existing operations personnel on process operation, optimization, effective troubleshooting, emergency response and the use of operating discipline in alignment to plant's training process. Perform scheduled operational and related tasks and unscheduled tasks that arise because of unplanned/non-routine events. Perform Immediate Response/Severe Weather Response activities, as assigned. Qualifications - Required education, experience and abilities that are needed for this role (must haves) A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED and one or both of the following: 2 or more years of experience in an Operations role within a Chemical Manufacturing environment. 2 or more years of Steam/Powerhouse Plant and Instrument Air Plant Experience. Successful candidates must be able to work 12-hour rotating shifts and work overtime as required including Holidays and Weekends. A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process. Preferred Skills - An expanded list of qualifications that are "nice to have", but not essential Associate degree or higher in Process Plant Technology. Experience as a Control Room Operator within a Chemical Manufacturing environment. 3 or more years of Steam/Powerhouse Plant and Instrument Air Plant Experience. The physical abilities, with or without reasonable accommodations, include: Wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, respirators. and steel-toed shoes Perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting. Climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground, including tight and closed in spaces. Stand or walk for extended periods of time. Lift a maximum of 50 lbs. This role does involve elevated work greater than or equal to four feet above the ground. **The Dow Chemical Company does not offer relocation assistance for this position.
