Punch Press Operator configures and operates electrically powered presses to cut, shape, and form metal, plastic, or other materials used in manufacturing operations. Performs operations such as blanking, bending, punching, and forming based on blueprints and other instructions. Being a Punch Press Operator responsibilities include configuring equipment and calibrating gauge settings, recognizing condition of dies, loading materials onto the equipment, feeding material through die, and positioning and removing parts from the die. Keeps a record of operational data and performs routine equipment maintenance. Additionally, Punch Press Operator monitors work schedule to ascertain production information, such as size, type, and quantity to be processed. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Punch Press Operator works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Perform operation according to the needed sequence and verify the quality to the sequence while maintaining safe working conditions.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Active involvement in promoting and maintaining a safe work environment.
2. Produce parts as assigned by supervisor or lead person and according to the needed sequence.
3. Ensure the quality of parts produced is equal to sample part.
4. Record all necessary job information including number parts produced, status of job, location of
finished parts etc.
5. Ensure initial and periodic safety checks are completed.
6. Ensure periodic part inspection is performed.
7. Comply with all Company policies.
8.Notify supervisor or lead person immediately of problems, concerns or questions you may
have.
9.Keep work area clean and free of hazards.
10.Follow special job instructions as communicated by supervisor or lead person or as on job card.
11.Any other duties as assigned by supervisor or lead person.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
-High school diploma or equivalent preferred
-Working knowledge of shop math
-Machine operator or other related production experience strongly preferred
-Punch press and/or set up experience a plus
-Proficient blueprint reading skills
-High mechanical aptitude
-Able and willing to perform repetitive tasks
-Willing to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE)
-Ability to read English as required for interpreting job cards and prints
-Safety and quality minded
