Punch Press Operator configures and operates electrically powered presses to cut, shape, and form metal, plastic, or other materials used in manufacturing operations. Performs operations such as blanking, bending, punching, and forming based on blueprints and other instructions. Being a Punch Press Operator responsibilities include configuring equipment and calibrating gauge settings, recognizing condition of dies, loading materials onto the equipment, feeding material through die, and positioning and removing parts from the die. Keeps a record of operational data and performs routine equipment maintenance. Additionally, Punch Press Operator monitors work schedule to ascertain production information, such as size, type, and quantity to be processed. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Punch Press Operator works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. 1st shift runs 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday
2nd shift runs 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm, Monday to Friday
3rd shift runs from 11:00 pm to 7:30 am - Sunday through Thursday
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Responsible for multiple presses per shift, must operate manual press within cycle times
· Perform/audit first/last article checks according to control plan
· Responsible for monitoring all auxiliary equipment for proper operation and grinding runners where applicable.
· Responsible for weighing and labeling each bag, box, or tote.
· Ensure all labels are correct according to the work order information.
· Responsible for performing dimensional and visual quality checks.
· Responsible for documentation of the quality checks and corrective actions on the Attribute chart
· Prepares all paperwork for upcoming changes.
· Responsible for properly handling and documenting rejected products on the injection molding machines.
· Responsible for housekeeping the injection molding machines and surrounding areas as defined in the department procedures.
· Maintains an open line of communication to ensure all problems and changes are communicated and resolved promptly.
· As requested, assist other team members in cross-training and conduct on-the-job training of other associates.
· Actively participates in Continuous Improvement teams and activities, including 5S & housekeeping.
· Additional responsibilities as assigned by the manager.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
