We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Purchasing Agent to join our homebuilding team. As a Purchasing Agent, you will play a critical role in procuring materials, supplies, and services necessary for the construction of residential properties. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of procurement processes, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers.
Duties:
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with vendors and suppliers to obtain the best pricing, terms, and quality for materials and services required for home construction.
- Review construction plans and specifications to identify required materials and quantities, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Analyze market trends, industry developments, and supplier performance to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Coordinate with project managers, architects, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and timelines, and to communicate purchasing needs.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders and contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Monitor and track order status, delivery schedules, and inventory levels to ensure timely and efficient procurement and inventory management.
- Resolve supplier issues and discrepancies, including quality concerns, delivery delays, and invoice discrepancies, in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain accurate records of purchasing activities, including vendor contracts, pricing agreements, and supplier performance metrics.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers and vendors, fostering collaboration and partnership to support business objectives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field preferred
- Proven experience as a Purchasing Agent
- Strong negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to analyze data, interpret technical specifications, and make informed purchasing decisions
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word) for data analysis and reporting
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
