Additionally, Purchasing Agent coordinates with internal teams to ensure that procurement needs are met promptly and efficiently. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or team leader. The Purchasing Agent independently performs a wide range of complex duties under general guidance from supervisors. Position Description
As a Purchasing Agent, you will conduct the following purchasing procedures: bid evaluation, negotiation between vendors, contractor selection, and contract documentation. You will manage all contracts, work orders, purchase orders, and expense controls, with the goal of securing the best value at a fair and reasonable cost. Responsibilities will include:
Purchasing Process- Responsible for implementing the purchasing process.
- Establish material take-offs and cost estimates.
- Evaluate subcontractors.
- Request and review all bids.
- Conduct effective negotiations to achieve desired results.
- Strive for regulation of fair and reasonable contracts.
- Make final decision and deliver professional contract awards.
- Facilitate documentation of bids.
- Ensure contract administration process flows efficiently.
- Aggressively streamline the labor and material supply chain with the construction team.
- Seek out and eliminate waste in processes, materials, and pricing.
- Leverage national contracts and other economies of scale for division use.
- The ideal candidate for this role has three plus years’ experience working in purchasing or in a fiscal environment, if you were a supply type in the military your experience in those fields will set you apart. Furthermore, if you have education in business related fields such as accounting, purchasing, or other fields, that will help put your resume at the top.
- Prior real estate experience is a huge plus but not required.
- General knowledge of residential construction and the components needed to construct single family and multi-family homes.
- Skills required to analyze direct cost to maintain or improve budgets.
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines, high level of organization required.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to negotiate contracts that will support the division needs.
