Summary

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for negotiating the purchase of all raw materials used by the company with vendors, finding solutions to fulfillment challenges as well, and identifying purchasing opportunities. They will also work on special projects assigned by the VP of Manufacturing.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Order and maintain raw material levels dependent upon forecast/sales to meet current demand.
2. Conduct weekly cycle counts on key raw materials to ensure inventory accuracy and minimize discrepancies at semi-annual inventory. 
3. Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for products by vendor.
4. Determine and communicate quantity and timing of deliveries.
5. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendor partners.
6. Identify new product vendors and evaluate them to determine product availability, quality, and terms.
7. Ensure continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicate any supply issues that may impact or pose a risk to business operations.
8. Attend inventory meetings and provide a status of each raw material and communicate and relevant industry updates and/or challenges.
9. Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues.
10. Stay current and up to date on any changes that may affect the supply and demand of needed products.
11. Maintain an accurate and up-to-date purchasing price file.
12. Research and evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs where possible.
13. As needed, serve as back-up to Product Manager.
14. Other duties as assigned.

Education & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Must pass background check and drug testing 

Physical Requirements

The team member is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
