Purchasing Clerk initiates, prepares, processes, and verifies purchase orders following established guidelines to purchase materials and goods by required delivery dates. Inputs transactions and administers a purchasing and contracts system or database. Being a Purchasing Clerk interacts with suppliers to obtain favorable pricing terms, product specifications, monitor availability, and optimize savings. Expedites delayed orders and resolves issues with changes, returns, replacements, and credit arrangements. Additionally, Purchasing Clerk coordinates with internal teams to ensure that procurement needs are met promptly and efficiently. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or team leader. The Purchasing Clerk works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Job Summary:
- Develop and implement materials management strategies to optimize inventory levels and ensure timely availability of materials for production.
- Develop an understanding of our raw material needs, maintain a strong working relationship with at least two suppliers for each major raw material.
- Coordinate with suppliers to procure materials and negotiate favorable terms and pricing
- Oversee the receiving, inspection, and storage of materials.
- Implement inventory control measures to minimize stockouts and excess inventory.
- Utilize MRP systems to track material availability and plan purchases accordingly.
- Monitor supplier performance and address any issues or concerns.
- Collaborate with production teams to ensure materials are available for fabrication or assembly processes.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, transactions, and supplier information.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in materials management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Must be proficient with MS Excel
- Prior experience or ability to learn MRP module of the ERP system Sage
- Good organizational skills and both written and oral communication.
