Inputs transactions and administers a purchasing and contracts system or database. Being a Purchasing Clerk interacts with suppliers to obtain favorable pricing terms, product specifications, monitor availability, and optimize savings. Expedites delayed orders and resolves issues with changes, returns, replacements, and credit arrangements. Additionally, Purchasing Clerk coordinates with internal teams to ensure that procurement needs are met promptly and efficiently. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or team leader. The Purchasing Clerk works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Under general supervision, the Purchasing / Fixed Asset Clerk performs duties related to the purchasing of supplies, materials, equipment, and services.
Prepares bids and quote requests, tabulates results and recommends award for contract and non-contract buying in accordance with state statutes, purchasing policy and procedures.
Maintains fixed assets in regards to tagging, asset audits, disposal, surplus and auctions.
High School diploma or GED required, plus one to three years of purchasing experience. Governmental experience is preferred.
