Overview

The Purchasing Clerk provides support to the Houston purchasing staff

Responsibilities

• Compile and analyze data to develop strategies for use in proper inventory management.
• Develop and use KPI’s to monitor and manage proper inventory levels of all products.
• Evaluate on-hand inventory consistent with historical sales and forecast, reviewing specific products to maintain consistent stocking levels.
• Coordinate and negotiate buys from various sources.
• Coordinate with operations and file mill claims within corporate guidelines.
• Provide sales with updates for mill pricing, availability and rolling schedules.
• Expedite vendor deliveries.
• Track mill shipments.
• Solicit/develop new sources for inventory while maintaining current vendor relationships.
• Communicate any vendor changes/updates to branch management.
• Communicate corporate purchasing policy changes with branch management.
• Adhere to all company policies/procedures.
• Maintain dead or slow-moving inventory list for monthly report to sales.
• Any other responsibilities assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Strong computer skills utilizing various ERP programs as well as Excel and other data analytic software.
• Self-starter who is highly proficient in multi-tasking and communication. 
• Must possess a strong work ethic and thrive in a team-oriented environment.
