Gilman Brothers, a supplier of foamboard products to the packaging, graphics and retail industries, is seeking a part time Purchasing Assistant to join our team. Family owned and operated for over 123 years, Gilman Brothers Company has become known for finding and implementing creative solutions for our customers.
Responsibilities:
-· Maintain systems to ensure inventory optimization, and appropriate replenishment strategies
· Evaluation of current raw material stock levels against demand
· Create accurate Purchasing Requisitions (PR) for the purchase of materials to meet the production schedule while minimizing inventory levels
· Establish a strong working relationship with scheduler, fellow purchasing team, and operational leadership
· Monitor and assists with vendor account related issues
· Collaborate with relevant departments to ensure products purchased are in line with the needs of the company
· Follow through on orders that have been placed
· Manage purchase orders, and maintain purchasing records
· Work with relevant departments to resolve discrepancies or non-confirming material
Requirements:
· Work takes place in a factory setting with exposure to moderate noise levels
· Must be eligible to work in the United States
· Lift up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
· Must be able to ascend and descend stairs and ladders
· Work takes place under minimal supervision
· Advanced reasoning ability is required to successfully perform required tasks with attention to detail and good follow up and follow through
· Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration required. One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education
· Prefer minimum of 2 years of experience in a purchasing position
· Exposure to lean manufacturing principles is a plus
· Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing
· Bi-lingual in (Spanish) is a strong plus.
· Proficient with MS office applications, working knowledge of Macola preferred
