Inputs transactions and administers a purchasing and contracts system or database. Being a Purchasing Clerk, Sr interacts with suppliers to obtain favorable pricing terms, product specifications, monitor availability, and optimize savings. Expedites delayed orders and resolves issues with changes, returns, replacements, and credit arrangements. Additionally, Purchasing Clerk, Sr coordinates with internal teams to ensure that procurement needs are met promptly and efficiently. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or team leader. The Purchasing Clerk, Sr works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. The Riverside Regional Jail is actively seeking a full time Purchasing Technician to perform a variety of duties supporting the processing of contracts, purchase orders and related documents for the Jail. Responsibilities include: review purchase requests for appropriate information, authorization and best pricing, obtain firm prices by fax, telephone or email, maintain purchase records and required documentation, distributes required documents to accounting, warehouse and end users, process receipts of goods, maintain vendor communication regarding order status, researches new products and vendor information, communicate purchasing policies and procedures to departmental personnel. Reports to upper management the status of open purchase orders on a weekly basis. Inform end users on the status of purchase orders. Establishes new accounts with vendors to include billing instructions, maintain and perform returns and exchanges, and other various procurement duties. Experience working with an electronic purchasing software system.
Must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate. One (1) year of administration and/or purchasing experience with a private, public or military organization. Any equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Must have considerable knowledge of standard office practices, procedures and equipment. Must be familiar with standard computer operating systems such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Email. Ability to perform mathematical calculations, files numerically, and proofread documents. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public as well as follow oral and written directions. Must possess the ability to report clearly, both orally and in written form.
Full-Time: $47,231 – $71,194
