Inputs transactions and administers a purchasing and contracts system or database. Being a Purchasing Clerk, Sr interacts with suppliers to obtain favorable pricing terms, product specifications, monitor availability, and optimize savings. Expedites delayed orders and resolves issues with changes, returns, replacements, and credit arrangements. Additionally, Purchasing Clerk, Sr coordinates with internal teams to ensure that procurement needs are met promptly and efficiently. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or team leader. The Purchasing Clerk, Sr works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. EXPECTED HIRING RANGE: $21.00 - $24.00
JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, places orders for consumables, raw material and outside processing. Researches best price and lead time. Negotiates with suppliers and follows up on open orders. Resolves problems with orders and processes returns if necessary. Ability to grow into position and become responsible for more complicated purchasing functions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 6 months to a year of office experience in purchasing/accounting, or similar discipline preferred.
- Familiarity/prior experience with computerized systems such as databases, etc.
- Familiarity with MicroSoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Must be detail-oriented and organized.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and tactfully.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently to meet deadlines.
- Must be flexible and adaptable with regard to changing priorities and assignments.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
General office environment. Some exposure to shop floor noise (under 80 db) and some hazardous chemicals.
