Purchasing Director manages procurement and purchasing operations and implements the strategy to provide the materials and services to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing. Maintains strategic supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, and implements systems for monitoring performance, assessing risk, and responding to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain. Being a Purchasing Director collaborates with other functions to define current and future inventory requirements and manage inventory levels. Implements processes and systems and utilizes technical tools to analyze data and increase responsiveness to material demands. Additionally, Purchasing Director oversees auditing processes to ensure procurement and recordkeeping comply with any applicable industry or governmental regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Purchasing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Purchasing Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     We are looking for the candidate who can work as Purchasing Agent or Assistant at a Japanese food specialty trading company in Flower Mound, TX.

    *Salary: $20 - $28/ hour (To be determined after interview)

    ■Essential Job Functions

    • Manages procurement of food and non-food items from other MTC locations and vendors nationwide to secure supplies.
    • Sources and negotiates prices and deals with vendors.
    • Monitors and analyzes daily inventory of products and creates purchasing plans based on order volume, assortment and lead time for products.
    • Organizes purchasing invoices/Create Purchasing Order.
    • Calculates costs and process receiving and posting into AS400 correctly, in a timely manner.
    • Works with warehouse department to conduct periodic physical inventory and report any issues to Manager.
    • Update data in AS400 for inventory adjustment, item transfer, status change, pricing change, location set-up, create new stock number and new vendor information.
    • Handles shipment issues in a timely manner and escalates issues to management when needed.
    • Answers questions regarding products, ordering status, shipping schedule, on hand item condition and inventory discrepancy and escalates issues accordingly.
    • Develop and maintain Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) food safety plans, and prerequisite programs such as Sanitation, Good Manufacturing/Distribution Practice (GMP)'s for food storage and distribution, Food Defense, Recall, Allergen and Supplier Verification (Vendor's Program)
    • Provide administrative and clerical support to ensure the compliance with FDA and USDA safety standards (GMP, HACCP, SSOP, Vendor program, Food Defense, Recall Program, etc.).
    • Conducts monthly internal audits and work closely with warehouse management to

    implement any corrective actions.

    • Attends Company events and functions outside of normal working hours.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    ■Physical Requirements

    • Able to sit in an office setting for an extended period of time
    • Able to type and use a computer for extended periods throughout the day
    • Able to reach, bend, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
    • Working Conditions
    • Noise Level: Normal to loud while in the office
    • Business level English required – read/write/speak/listen
    • Business level Japanese required – read/write/speak/listen
    • Maintains a positive attitude
    • Able to work independently and as a team
    • Able to adapt to frequent changes in assignments and workload
    • Bachelor's Degree required, major in Business or relevant fields preferred
    • 2-3 years of purchasing or relevant work experience required

    ■Knowledge and Skills

    • Intermediate mathematical knowledge – profit margin calculations, markups, discounts, combining/converting measurements, counting inventory, etc.
    • Problem-solving skills
    • Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency
    • Communication and interpersonal skills
    • Exceptional organization and time management skills
    • Knowledge of Japanese foods and sakes preferred

    Job Type: Full-time

    Salary: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
