Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.     Tahoe Forest Products is hiring a Purchasing Manager!   The Purchasing Manager is responsible for managing the plant purchases including spare parts, consumables, tools, rental equipment, mobile equipment, repairs, services and storeroom operations. This position ensures that materials, equipment, and supplies are ordered and delivered in a timely manner to keep the plant running on a 24/7 basis.


    Essential Job Functions may include the following or other duties as assigned:


    JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Manage stockroom operations and ensure all spare parts are in stock and available.
    • Ensure all planned jobs are kitted and ready for installation ahead of target date/time.
    •  Evaluate and select vendors based on price, quality and reliability.
    •  Manage supplier relationships to ensure continuity of good and services that meet the quality, service and price performance standards of the company.
    •  Comply with all company purchasing and inventory procedures.
    •  Manage scheduled delivery of materials, supplies, and equipment.
    •  Work with the Accounting department to establish new vendors in the system and create billing procedures.
    •  Assist maintenance with planning and scheduling efforts for parts and services.
    •  Create Purchase Orders based on plant requirements and communicate to suppliers in a timely manner.
    •  Learn and understand critical issues for the plant to assure supplies are properly stocked.
    •  Utilize CMMS to set up vendors, place orders and maintain inventory levels.
    •  Prepare monthly and yearly purchasing reports when/as required.
    •  Ensure all team members clearly understand all safety rules and regulations, appropriate training has been received and work performance is in accordance with applicable regulations.
    •  Coach,  mentor  and  develop  team  through  metrics  development  and  tracking, performance evaluations and corrective action.
    •  Collaborate and communicate effectively across different organizational levels, functions, businesses, and geographies to realize procurement goals and objectives.
    • Contribute to the overall success and continued growth of the company by always adding value to the organization and willingly participating in tasks assigned that are outside the scope of this job description, but within the capabilities of the employee.

    Requirements

      

    JOB  QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business or related field preferred; equivalent experience in procurement, purchasing or industrial maintenance storeroom can be substituted.
    •  Ability to use basic and intermediate mathematical computations and problem solving.
    •  Must be self-motivated and a self-starter with excellent organizational skills and work habits.
    •  Ability  to  develop  contingencies  for  problems  that  arise  while  understanding  the consequences of the options.
    •  Ability to maintain confidentiality.
    •  Strong computer skills with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office; prior experience in CMMS required.
    •  Excellent communication and listening skills and ability to work collaboratively with people to develop a strong team environment.

    Work is performed primarily in an office environment, but employee will be required as needed to be in the plant manufacturing environment. Verbal and written communication with employee groups, plant stakeholders and vendors is a frequent expectation. The employee must have high mobility and dexterity due to expanse of operations and be able to climb stairs and walk long distances. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
