Purchasing Director jobs in Chicago, IL

Purchasing Director manages procurement and purchasing operations and implements the strategy to provide the materials and services to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing. Maintains strategic supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, and implements systems for monitoring performance, assessing risk, and responding to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain. Being a Purchasing Director collaborates with other functions to define current and future inventory requirements and manage inventory levels. Implements processes and systems and utilizes technical tools to analyze data and increase responsiveness to material demands. Additionally, Purchasing Director oversees auditing processes to ensure procurement and recordkeeping comply with any applicable industry or governmental regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Purchasing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Purchasing Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     • Oversee procurement life cycle for managed categories: purchase order, information records, change notices, performance reports, and account payables issues
    • Ensures uninterrupted production supply and resolves operational disputes and disruptions related to suppliers
    • Perform vendor and market assessments to aid in procurement strategies and operational efficiencies
    • Enforces vendor adherence to contracts, purchasing policies, procedures, and methods
    • Use ERP to reporting methods to analyze and interpret material requirements and production schedules
    • Assist in department projects, cost saving efforts, commercialization, and product development, and product introduction.
    • Negotiates with vendors for good and services, negotiating the best possible price and service guarantee
    • Establishes purchasing policies and ensure compliance
    • Develops new supply sources as needed
    • Stays up to date on industry happenings that affecting purchasing plans
    • Examines bids
    • Establishes account/credit and terms
    • Negotiates blanket purchase orders when appropriate and monitors cost during the time
    • Works closely with receiving department to ensure proper supplies arrived
    • Traces delinquent arrivals from purchase orders
    • Manages and mentors the purchasing department team
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $100,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
