Purchasing Director manages procurement and purchasing operations and implements the strategy to provide the materials and services to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing. Maintains strategic supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, and implements systems for monitoring performance, assessing risk, and responding to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain. Being a Purchasing Director collaborates with other functions to define current and future inventory requirements and manage inventory levels. Implements processes and systems and utilizes technical tools to analyze data and increase responsiveness to material demands. Additionally, Purchasing Director oversees auditing processes to ensure procurement and recordkeeping comply with any applicable industry or governmental regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Purchasing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Purchasing Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.   • JOB SUMMARY:

    The Director of Procurement will be responsible for the development, implementation and management of innovative, strategic supply chain solutions. The focus will be on creating value and achieving business segment goals with the best-in-class manufacturers and distributors while consistently leveraging across the enterprise and creating a sustainable value through supply chain management and implementation of strategic value-added purchasing objectives.

    PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Responsible for the buying and optimal inventory management of all cabinet-related commodities including lumber, paint, stains and hardware.
    • Communicates with and monitors the performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements; identifies and qualifies new suppliers in collaboration with other departments.
    • Establishes performance metrics for measurement, monitoring, comparison, or evaluation of factors affecting the supply chain.
    • Conducts market research to identify and establish new sources and bid lists for product ​categories, including vendor prequalification.
    • Negotiates with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
    • Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items. Coordinates efforts with Operations and Quality to ensure product standards are met with new and existing vendors.
    • Estimates values according to knowledge of market price.
    • Determines method of procurement, such as direct purchase or bid.
    • Prepares purchase orders or bid requests.
    • Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
    • Maintains manual or computerized (MRP) procurement records, such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
    • Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
    • Analyzes opportunities for leveraged procurement across company.
    • Assists team in research of material vendors, service providers and supply chains and in the

    development of vendor agreements.

    • Effectively manages multiple complex initiatives with limited supervision.
    • Initiates, develops, renegotiates and executes National Account Programs and Preferred competitive Vendor Pricing Agreements.
    • Maximize technological resources to derive savings, improve the quality of products and services, enhance budget predictability, accuracy & controls, improve operating efficiencies and enhance profitability.

    ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

    • BA or BS preferred. ​10-20 years purchasing and supply chain management experience, preferably in the wood or manufacturing industry required.
    • Experience working in a lean environment and applicable tools such as Kanban and visual management.
    • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Power Point and Advanced knowledge of Excel, including ability to create and update financial models.
    • Strong oral and written communications skills required; presentation skills.
    • Strong analytical, strategic planning, risk management and organizational abilities.
    • Superior quantitative and analytical skills.
    • Exceptional customer service skills and follow through.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong attention to detail required.
    • Highly skilled technology professional and Super User in MRP/ERP Systems.
    • Ability to work for any employer in the USA without need for sponsorship.
