Purchasing Director manages procurement and purchasing operations and implements the strategy to provide the materials and services to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing. Maintains strategic supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, and implements systems for monitoring performance, assessing risk, and responding to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain. Being a Purchasing Director collaborates with other functions to define current and future inventory requirements and manage inventory levels. Implements processes and systems and utilizes technical tools to analyze data and increase responsiveness to material demands. Additionally, Purchasing Director oversees auditing processes to ensure procurement and recordkeeping comply with any applicable industry or governmental regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Purchasing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Purchasing Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Role and Responsibilities

    Purchase Order and Inventory Management

    • Analyze, recommend, and execute inventory optimization opportunities based on historical trends and forecasts.
    • Maintain appropriate inventory levels and reduce risk of out of stocks.
    • Communicate cross functionally replenishment details
    • Confirm, follow up, and expediate purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery
    • Resolve discrepancies and/or issues as they occur during the purchase order cycle
    • Resolve invoice discrepancies in a timely manner
    • Maintain system data accuracy including lead time, MOQ, and purchase order

    Supplier Management

    • Resolve discrepancies and/or issues as they occur during the purchase order cycle
    • Facilitate the escalation process
    • Effectively manage supplier performance by assisting with quality concerns

    Cost Reduction and Margin Enhancement

    • Use independent judgment to identify, recommend, and execute opportunities to optimize inventories, drive cost savings, reduce lead time and improve delivery performance and attain optimal inventory levels.

    Relationships

    • Handle sourcing, purchasing and customer service for all suppliers.
    • Assist in maintaining relationships with all partners in the supply chain.
    • Understand freight forwarder and customs involvement in supply chain.

    Physical Demands

    Regularly stand/sit for extended periods, operate office equipment, perform light-moderate lifting, lift/move up to 35 lbs. occasionally, bend, twist, and maintain posture.
