Purchasing Director manages procurement and purchasing operations and implements the strategy to provide the materials and services to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing. Maintains strategic supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, and implements systems for monitoring performance, assessing risk, and responding to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain. Being a Purchasing Director collaborates with other functions to define current and future inventory requirements and manage inventory levels. Implements processes and systems and utilizes technical tools to analyze data and increase responsiveness to material demands. Additionally, Purchasing Director oversees auditing processes to ensure procurement and recordkeeping comply with any applicable industry or governmental regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Purchasing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Purchasing Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.   • SUMMARY

    Operates under the direction of the Facilities Manager and Engineering Manager to procure tooling and machine parts as well as perform general accounting tasks to efficiently process purchasing transactions for the Maintenance Department and Tool Crib.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Ensure purchased materials for Maintenance and Tool Crib are received at the correct price and quantity.
    • Prepare purchase orders for tooling and parts for Maintenance and Tool Crib that either have been requested or have fallen below minimum quantity and send copies to suppliers and to departments originating requests.
    • Charge parts and labor to work orders.
    • Compare suppliers' bills with bids and purchase orders in order to verify accuracy and maintain budget.
    • Correspond with vendors and suppliers regarding invoices, shipping, order status, quotes, changes, cancellations, and pricing issues.
    • Conduct Tool Crib and Maintenance inventory audits monthly, including the physical count, re-counts, part reclassification and reconciliation.
    • Perform day-to-day administrative task such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
    • Create new items through Plex.
    • Research machine parts using databases and the internet for hard-to-find materials and best price and delivery.
    • Keep accurate purchasing records and ensure money that is spent for the Maintenance Department is accurately accounted for through documents including purchase orders and work orders.

    OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Shipping UPS tools and maintenance parts to be repaired.
    • May travel locally to pick up parts.
    • May complete duties of a Tool Crib attendant.
    • Assist machinists in procuring tools for their toolboxes.
    • Fill out payroll deduction forms for accounting.
    • Seek out innovative ways to successfully reduce Company costs.
    • Other duties as assigned

    • Computer Software - Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Windows, and inventory management software.
    • Knowledge of general accounting, accounts payable, and procurement procedures.
    • Customer Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service.

    • Communication - Ability to effectively communicate with customers, suppliers, and co-workers through verbal and written communication.
    • Reading Comprehension - Ability to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.

    • Attention to detail - Job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

    • Ideal candidate will have 3-5 years' work related experience.
    • Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Business or related field
