Purchasing Director manages procurement and purchasing operations and implements the strategy to provide the materials and services to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing. Maintains strategic supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, and implements systems for monitoring performance, assessing risk, and responding to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain. Being a Purchasing Director collaborates with other functions to define current and future inventory requirements and manage inventory levels. Implements processes and systems and utilizes technical tools to analyze data and increase responsiveness to material demands. Additionally, Purchasing Director oversees auditing processes to ensure procurement and recordkeeping comply with any applicable industry or governmental regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Purchasing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Purchasing Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     POSITION SUMMARY

    The Purchasing Agent is responsible for maintaining adequate stocking levels of supplies and inventory, according to usage and sales demands. This includes, but is not limited to, researching suppliers, maintaining relationships with suppliers & vendors, negotiating contracts, and creating & submitting purchase orders. This position reports to the Purchasing Manager.


    Responsibilities

    • Maintain adequate stock levels of all goods and supplies according to usage, sales needs, or other factors necessitating purchases.
    • Evaluate suppliers by considering price, quality, and other criteria.
    • Maintain relationships with vendors and negotiate most favorable terms on behalf of the Company.
    • Maintain vender agreements, certificates of compliance, and insurance documents from suppliers and vendors.
    • Create and submit purchase orders for all products, parts, supplies, equipment, samples and other purchased goods or services.
    • Maintains a variety of schedules, reports, and records
    • Negotiates and settles damage claims, rejections, losses, and returns of material.
    • Resolves shipment quality issues between suppliers and company personnel.
    • Assists in developing alternative sources of supply by identifying and researching prospective suppliers.
    • Collaborate with sales, inventory control, production, quality control and other departments to integrate purchasing strategies with overall business plans.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or relevant field, preferred.
    • 5 years purchasing experience, including international purchasing.
    • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
    • Expert at Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of ERP solutions.
    • Knowledge of lean enterprise principles and practices
