Purchasing Director manages procurement and purchasing operations and implements the strategy to provide the materials and services to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing. Maintains strategic supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, and implements systems for monitoring performance, assessing risk, and responding to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain. Being a Purchasing Director collaborates with other functions to define current and future inventory requirements and manage inventory levels. Implements processes and systems and utilizes technical tools to analyze data and increase responsiveness to material demands. Additionally, Purchasing Director oversees auditing processes to ensure procurement and recordkeeping comply with any applicable industry or governmental regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Purchasing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Purchasing Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Purchasing Specialist

    What Will You Do?

    You will be responsible for Facilitating communication between Manufacturing Operations, Design, Engineering and Purchasing to collect data to support the selection of primary and secondary suppliers of raw materials, components and/or MRO supplies that offer the best-delivered value to the Ashley Companies. Perform initial price negotiations with suppliers as needed. Serve as the company representative to prospective suppliers, communicate company needs and gather information from suppliers regarding their products and services. Provide recommendations to the Global Commodity Manager on best course of action based on initial price negotiations and supplier selection research.

    What Do You Need?

    • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration or related field, Required
    • 2 years of purchasing experience with a background in sourcing, negotiating, quality assurance
    • APICS and/or ISM certification is a bonus!
    • Knowledge of materials management software programs
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Strong negotiation skills and attention to detail
    • Proficient computer skills with the Microsoft Office Suite
    • Perform well in a fast-paced work environment
