Purchasing Director manages procurement and purchasing operations and implements the strategy to provide the materials and services to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing. Maintains strategic supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, and implements systems for monitoring performance, assessing risk, and responding to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain. Being a Purchasing Director collaborates with other functions to define current and future inventory requirements and manage inventory levels. Implements processes and systems and utilizes technical tools to analyze data and increase responsiveness to material demands. Additionally, Purchasing Director oversees auditing processes to ensure procurement and recordkeeping comply with any applicable industry or governmental regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Purchasing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. The Purchasing Manager is responsible for providing direction and management for the planning and procurement of vacuum pumps, accessories, direct materials, and MRO items necessary for the production and repair of vacuum pumps and pumping systems. This position also Supervises the procurement of materials and ensures proper management of ERP system data, procedures, and suppliers to support production. In addition, this position manages the supplier base to stay current on product changes, price, and availability of required items to provide the highest value to Busch.
