Purchasing Director manages procurement and purchasing operations and implements the strategy to provide the materials and services to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing. Maintains strategic supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, and implements systems for monitoring performance, assessing risk, and responding to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain. Being a Purchasing Director collaborates with other functions to define current and future inventory requirements and manage inventory levels. Implements processes and systems and utilizes technical tools to analyze data and increase responsiveness to material demands. Additionally, Purchasing Director oversees auditing processes to ensure procurement and recordkeeping comply with any applicable industry or governmental regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Purchasing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.     The Purchasing Manager is responsible for providing direction and management for the planning and procurement of vacuum pumps, accessories, direct materials, and MRO items necessary for the production and repair of vacuum pumps and pumping systems. This position also Supervises the procurement of materials and ensures proper management of ERP system data, procedures, and suppliers to support production. In addition, this position manages the supplier base to stay current on product changes, price, and availability of required items to provide the highest value to Busch.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Manages and monitors all procedures, processes, and training of the Purchasing personnel while maintaining measurable and productive output.
    • Reviews the Buyer’s recommendations on supplier selection, negotiations, quotes, purchase contracts, and terms and conditions.
    • Purchases and supervises the procurement of all items necessary to meet the customer and business demands while ensuring the best quality and value to Busch.
    • Aids in the development of supply agreements and develops strategic pricing and delivery plans with major suppliers.
    • Assures maintenance of all purchasing documents are properly completed including pricing, delivery, proper specifications, and terms and conditions of purchase to ensure compliance with company and ISO requirements. Assures purchases are monitored, updated, and expedited as required.
    • Ensures the ERP system data is maintained and updated with current pricing, lead times, and supplier information.
    • Reviews, researches, and resolves invoice discrepancies timely and ensures processes are in place to minimize any discrepancies.
    • Performs employee reviews and handles any personnel issues in accordance with company policies.
    • Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals and objectives.
    • Assists buyers with information and techniques for effective negotiations.
    • Reviews incoming requisitions to ensure compliance with company guidelines and assign them to appropriate buyers for processing.
    • Reviews and approves set up of items in the ERP system.
    • Executes and manages the procurement of Capital Equipment in compliance with company policy.
    • Develops alternative suppliers as required to ensure continued supply chain integrity. Works closely with Engineering and Manufacturing to develop optimal sourcing solutions.
    • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to lead quality, cost, and delivery improvement projects with suppliers.
    • Prepare, evaluate, and make recommendations involving a total cost of ownership data related to cost savings projects.
    • Monitors and controls price and cost variances to ensure the highest value to Busch
    • Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures.

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree: Required, Field of Study: Business or Purchasing Logistics or related degree: Master’s Degree: Preferred
    • Knowledge of a variety of commodities, legal aspects of purchasing, and basic regulations to include ethics
    • Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, prior experience with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning): Preferred
    • Certifications & Licenses: Must maintain a valid driver’s license throughout employment

    Personal Qualifications

    • 5 years of Purchasing Management or 10 plus years of experience in Procurement
    • Analytical and financial justification knowledge and skills.
    • Proven ability to influence others and execute a plan.
    • Excellent English oral and written communication skills
    • Knowledge and understanding of technical/mechanical concepts and good mechanical aptitude
    • Detail, safety and customer-oriented
    • Good decision-making and problem-solving abilities
    • Good work values, ethics, and integrity, and the ability to influence your team to demonstrate the same

    Job Requirements

    • Ability and willingness to pass a 10-panel drug screen, 7-year criminal history check
      • Most felonies are a disqualifiers, and misdemeanors are considered on a case-by-case basis
    • Must be willing and able to utilize all required PPE
    • Physical Requirements
      • Occasional standing, walking, sitting, and manually manipulating
      • All applicants must be able to hear and see audible and visual alarms and must be able to wear all required PPE, such as safety shoes, electrical hazards, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
