Purchasing Manager manages procurement and purchasing operations and implements the strategy to provide the materials and services to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing. Maintains strategic supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, and implements systems for monitoring performance, assessing risk, and responding to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain. Being a Purchasing Manager collaborates with other functions to define current and future inventory requirements and manage inventory levels. Implements processes and systems and utilizes technical tools to analyze data and increase responsiveness to material demands. RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Primary procurement contact for the management team and manufacturing facilities.
· Coordinate/lead sourcing process for new product launches, supplier changes, and cost savings projects.
· Coordinate with cross-functional team to ensure on-time supplier launches.
· Coordinate with cross-functional team and global procurement to resolve supplier related issues.
· Initiate and lead cross-functional make vs buy decisions.
· Develop and maintain procedures to assure procurement compliance with government contracts and all legal requirements related to military projects.
· Develop and mentor staff; ensures staff grows in existing roles and develops strengths for future roles within the company.
· Develop and maintain procurement department expense and capital budgets.
· Support the development and maintenance of annual PPV/savings targets.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT(S):
· BS/BA in Supply Chain, Business, or Engineering, or a combination of relevant education and
experience.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S):
· ~10 years of procurement or related experience
. The ideal candidate will have experience in both direct and indirect material categories.
· 3 years of supervisory experience.
