Purchasing Manager manages procurement and purchasing operations and implements the strategy to provide the materials and services to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing. Maintains strategic supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, and implements systems for monitoring performance, assessing risk, and responding to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain. Being a Purchasing Manager collaborates with other functions to define current and future inventory requirements and manage inventory levels. Implements processes and systems and utilizes technical tools to analyze data and increase responsiveness to material demands. Additionally, Purchasing Manager oversees auditing processes to ensure procurement and recordkeeping comply with any applicable industry or governmental regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Purchasing Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Purchasing Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     The Purchasing Clerk supports the Purchasing department by performing routine clerical and administrative tasks associated with purchasing and material handling and must be good at multitasking, enjoy being a team player, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

     

    Essential Functions / Responsibility:

    • Process/create Receivers and Backfills.
    • Generate reports from ERP system.
    • Review and organize nonstandard requests coming into Purchasing department.
    • Monitor vendor email communications.
    • Research new parts specified by Engineering and ensure part number data captured in ERP is correct.
    • Research and report on purchase orders as requested.
    • Support Material Handling Team in tracking incoming shipments as requested.
    • Collaborate with internal and external parties as necessary.
    • Perform clerical duties, such as data entry, faxing, scanning, telephone conversations, and non-clerical duties.
    • Promote and participate in a safe working environment.
    • Perform additional duties as requested by supervisor.

    Basic Knowledge Desired:

    • Be able to manage own time around others’ schedules.
    • Efficiently complete tasks based on priority.
    • Be able to use a multi-line phone system efficiently.
    • Be skilled at internet/web searches and researching companies’ credibility, products, prices, etc.

    Physical Demands:

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear.
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and arms to finger, handle, feel, reach, or operate objects, tools, or controls.
    • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and is occasionally required to sit.
    • Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
    • The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 20 pounds.

    Working Environment:

    • Fast-paced environment, open-concept office area, interacts regularly with the Production floor.
    • The employee may be subjected to noise levels, ranging from low volume to loud and will be required to wear provided safety hearing devices from time to time, which will be provided.
    • Some exposure to strong odors and fumes.
    • All Team Members must wear provided OSHA approved eye protection at all times in manufacturing areas. The employee will be required to wear provided safety eyewear throughout the performance of their duties.


    Qualifications & Experience:

    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Strong computer skills, proficiency Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
    • 45-50 WPM typing with 10-Key (adding machine / calculator)
    • Must be able to work independently.
    • Must have good communication, organizational, and time management skills.
    • Must be willing to listen, learn, and follow instructions.
    • Previous experience in administrative support and data entry is desired.
